Red Road Outreach

Please help with our 2023 children's clothing drive, for the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota

We are actively collecting for our December 2023 drive

Pine Ridge is the poorest place in our country. This community has to endure the extreme South Dakota winters, so the children need new warm durable clothes.  Especially coats, hats, gloves and sleeping bags for warmth and security.  For years Dave Rach has been gathering these items and delivering them to the children in early December.  Feel free to contact Dave with questions and to discuss how you and your business can get involved.

The story:

Please join my family in helping some of the poorest children in the United States. The children of the Oglala Lakota Native American Reservation. These children live in abject poverty, substandard, overcrowded housing, and lack the basic necessities.

Each December my brother and I make the 1300-mile drive to the Pine Ridge Reservation to deliver children's clothes to One Spirit. One Spirit is a Lakota charity within the reservation, ran by tribal members.

This organization:

The Red Road Outreach is now a 501c3 charitable organization. Your donations are now tax deductible. We hope that this designation will allow us to partner with businesses and community groups to allow us to do more.

The needs:

Please help us help the children of Pine Ridge by donating new, warm, durable, children's clothing and sleeping bags.

We hope to have a full load to take to the children as they face another brutal South Dakota winter. No donation is too small or too large. We will adjust our transportation to make sure everything gets to the children. These children have so little that their needs will always far exceed what we can provide, but everything can make a difference in this community.

Please take a minute to watch this video on Youtube about the Pine Ridge Reservation. It is heart wrenching to see the children of the proud Oglala people, living in the harsh conditions they do. Please grab an extra item or two as you begin your Christmas Shopping.

The red road is a modern English-language concept of the right path of life, as inspired by some of the beliefs found in a variety of Native American spiritual teachings. The term is used primarily in the Pan-Indian and New Age communities, and rarely among traditional Indigenous people, who have terms in their own languages for their spiritual ways. Native Americans' spiritual teachings are diverse. With over 500 federally recognized tribes in just the US, while some regional practices and beliefs might be similar, the cultures are highly individualized. Individual ceremonies and particular beliefs tend to be unique to the people of these diverse bands, tribes and nations.
